The Baltimore Ravens returned to practice on Monday, but Lamar Jackson did not participate. The team announced that Jackson was sidelined with a right hamstring injury, and it’s uncertain if he will play in the game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

Lamar Jackson suffered the injury during the Ravens’ 37-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sept. 28. He did not play in the next two games, and the Ravens had a bye this past weekend.

Last week, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said he hoped Jackson would return after missing the last two games. But with the two-time NFL MVP not on the field Monday, it’s possible he could miss his third consecutive game.

“I think all the guys are working really hard to get back, I can tell you that,” Harbaugh said after Monday’s practice. “We’ll see who’s back and who practices on Wednesday. I don’t want to comment on any individual guys.”

The Ravens currently have a 1-5 record and need Jackson to return to have a shot at reaching the playoffs. According to ESPN, when Jackson is the starting QB, the Ravens have posted a 74-32 record, including the playoffs since 2018. In that span, the Ravens are 4-12 when Jackson is not the starter.

Lamar Jackson is a ‘generational player’

“Lamar is a generational player. You can’t replace him with anybody,” running back Justice Hill said earlier this month, per the Ravens’ official website. “Obviously, getting him back will be a huge leap for our offense.”

In four games this season, Jackson has thrown for 869 yards, 10 touchdowns and one interception with a 130.5 passer rating. The former Louisville star also rushed for 166 yards and one touchdown.

Jackson was named NFL MVP in 2019 and 2023. He finished second in MVP voting in 2024 after throwing for 4,172 yards, 41 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also rushed for 915 yards and four scores last season.

“Lamar Jackson is the best football player on the planet. … There isn’t anyone better at purely playing the sport,” Steven Ruiz of The Ringer wrote before the 2025 season kicked off. “At this stage in his career, his role in the Ravens’ run game almost feels superfluous. If Jackson didn’t log another designed rushing attempt in his career, he would still be one of the five best quarterbacks in the league. He’s grown into one of the NFL’s most gifted passers.”
