Marvin Mims injury update: Latest on Broncos WR after leaving practice

Denver Broncos All-Pro wide receiver/punt returner Marvin Mims left practice on Wednesday with a groin injury, per ESPN‘s Adam Schefter. He is still being evaluated, but Denver does not seem to be overly concerned, per Schefter.
Mims has played two seasons with the Broncos, totaling 61 catches for 880 yards and six touchdowns. He has emerged into a major weapon for sophomore quarterback Bo Nix heading into his second season behind center.
The former Sooner only played in just one of Denver’s three preseason games. Mims hauled in just one catch for three yards in Denver’s 30-9 preseason opening win over the San Francisco 49ers. Following roster cuts, Mims is projected as one of Denver’s three starting wide receivers alongside Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin.
Mims was a four-star recruit coming out of Lone Star (Frisco, TX) in the Class of 2020, where he was tabbed the No. 147-ranked player in the country. He committed to Oklahoma, where he’d play from 2020-22. As a Sooner, he hauled in 123 catches for 2,238 yards and 20 touchdowns. Prior to entering the 2022 NFL Draft, he was named Second Team All-Big 12 in 2020 and First Team All-Big 12 in 2022.
He was selected by the Denver Broncos with the No. 63 pick in the Second Round of the 2022 NFL Draft and has remained with the organization since. Mims has emerged as one of the best punt/kick returners in the entire National Football League, as he was named a Second Team All-Pro along with earning a Pro Bowl and a PFWA All-Rookie Team nod in 2023.

This success carried over to 2024, as he was named First Team All-Pro and was once again selected to a Pro Bowl as a returner. Mims emerged as a true threat as a wide receiver as well with Nix at quarterback, as he ranked second on the team in both receiving yards (503) and receiving touchdowns (six) behind Courtland Sutton.
“I feel like we’re poised and were really level-headed this year and that we’re going to make something happen this year as long as we keep going on each other and just strive to get there,” Mims told NFL.com‘s Kevin Patra this offseason.
Denver opens its 2025 season on Sept. 7 at home against the Tennessee Titans. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:05 PM ET on FOX.
