Mattress Mack bets big on Dallas Cowboys ahead of Tampa Bay Buccaneers matchup

Houston furniture store owner and gambling fiend Mattress Mack lost a major bet when he backed the TCU Horned Frogs for the College Football Playoff championship but he’s back at it again for the NFL playoffs. Jim McIngvale, better known to the world as Mattress Mack, placed a $200,000 bet on the Dallas Cowboys to win the NFC championship.
The $200,000 bet with +625 odds would net him $1.45 million in winnings if the Cowboys make it past the Buccaneers and the 49ers to ultimately play in and win the NFC title game.
Not only did McIngvale place the bet, but he also released a Cowboy-themed video to announce the major wager.
The Gallery Furniture owner lost $3 million last Monday when the TCU Horned Frogs were shellacked 65-7 by the Georgia Bulldogs.
For last year’s Super Bowl, Mattress Mack lost a $4.5 million bet that he put on the Cincinnati Bengals. That was the largest mobile wager in the history of sports betting. He also won $75 million in total payouts for the Houston Astros winning the 2022 World Series.
Mike McCarthy: Cowboys ‘didn’t need’ extra day
After playing their final game of the regular season last Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys got an extra day of preparation for their first-round playoff game, although according to head coach Mike McCarthy, they could have done without it.

“We didn’t need it,” McCarthy said on Saturday. “We’re ready to go.”
McCarthy struck a confident tone all week despite the Cowboys’ embarrassing 26-6 flop versus the Commanders last weekend. After all, Dallas has consistently found ways to win each game following a loss this year.
After losses versus Tampa Bay, Philadelphia, Green Bay and Jacksonville, the Cowboys went on to beat Cincinnati, Detroit, Minnesota and Philadelphia. Not only have they won the next game, they’ve also followed each loss with at least two wins.
“It just goes back to your consistency and approach,” McCarthy said about his team’s ability to bounce back. “Understanding what we do in the preparation phase of it. Anytime you’re in an eight-day window, you’re at risk of doing too much. It’s about sticking to your principles and your process.”
The team left for Tampa on Sunday after a walkthrough practice on Saturday. Kickoff versus the Bucs is at 8:15 p.m. ET on Monday. Dallas returned linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, center Tyler Biadasz and defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins this week.
