Broncos QB Russell Wilson was undoubtedly one of the NFL’s biggest disappointments last season. After Denver gave up a king’s ransom to Seattle for him last offseason, his year was a major letdown and, in turn, so was the Bronco’s as they finished at 5-12, their worst record since 2010.

Even so, many anticipate a bounce back season from the nine-time Pro Bowler. Former teammate Melvin Gordon counts himself as one of those people. In a conversation on ‘The Jim Rome Show’, Gordon said that Wilson has an MVP caliber campaign left in him, especially considering that Denver’s franchise, staff, and roster is in a better place than it was at this time last year.

“Yeah, he do (have an MVP caliber season in him),” said Gordon. “And he has an MVP coach.”

“I think they got the pieces there now that’s going to put him in the best situation,” Gordon said. “What he does this year? It’s on him. But I definitely believe they’ll be a better football team than they were last year.”

Wilson’s numbers in 2022 were, by far, the worst in his 11 years as a pro. His 3,524 passing yards finished in the middle of the pack for his career. However, from there, he posted career lows in completion percentage (60.5%), touchdowns (16), and QBR (36.7). He finished with the worst record of his career as well with a 4-11 mark as their QB1.

Wilson also took 55 sacks, a league worst and career-high, while throwing the second most interceptions of his career with 11. Of his decade plus in the league, it was just the second time that he didn’t come away with any major awards or recognition.

To be fair, Nathaniel Hackett earned plenty of the blame in his brief stint as head coach. Still, Wilson’s production, or severe lack thereof, was a big reason why Denver finished dead last in the AFC West for the third straight season and missed the playoffs for the seventh straight year after winning Super Bowl 50.

The Broncos made several moves this offseason, most notably with the trade for Sean Payton, to correct what took place last season. Now, the rest falls on Wilson’s shoulders as fans in Mile High expect much more of what Gordon described in 2023 rather than what they went through in 2022.

Russell Wilson looks incredibly lean in new workout video

Russell Wilson is celebrating restoration season by sharing a video of some of intense workouts off the field. Will these exercises revive his career? Give it a big we’ll see.

On Saturday, he gave fans a glimpse of what he’s been doing when not working out at the Broncos headquarters. The video is only a 39-second taste, using Nipsey Hussle’s ‘Grinding All My Life’ as the soundtrack.

In most of the video, the Broncos quarterback is using sliding exercises with weight training. He almost looks like a speed skater (who catches footballs) as he maneuvers between lanes.
