The Micah Parsons contract dispute carries on as the NFL season gets closer. Parsons has not been able to agree to a deal with the Dallas Cowboys, leading to his trade request. It’s been made clear, from the Cowboys’ end, that Parsons will not be traded.

Even through all of the semantics of a contract negotiation, Parsons has continued to show up. He spent plenty of time on the practice field in Oxnard, although he did not participate. The same is true for Saturday night leading into the preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Parsons is present inside AT&T Stadium, wearing his jersey without pads. He was seen emerging from the locker room about 35 minutes ahead of kick.

Even if there we no contract issues to work through, Parsons would not likely be on the field. The Cowboys are not playing too many of their starters against Baltimore. And with all the young pass rushers on the roster, getting a look at them has to be a goal of the coaching staff.

Owner/general manager Jerry Jones will be the first one to tell you that Parsons is still under contract. Still showing up has been a constant theme through this whole process — even through the trade request.

Everyone will be wondering if Parsons will be in similar clothes on Sept. 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles. If the answer winds up being yes, sitting out of a regular season game would be a massive storyline.

Jerry Jones casts doubt on discussing deal with Micah Parsons

As the Dallas Cowboys prepare for their final two preseason games, Micah Parsons’ contract dispute continues to loom large. When asked whether talks will resume when the franchise returns to Texas, Jerry Jones casted doubt.

Parsons has not practiced since going public with his trade request earlier this month. The star linebacker is searching for a new contract, which would likely make him the NFL’s highest-paid non-quarterback, but no deal has come to fruition.

It’s become a public dispute between the two sides. As for whether talks will ramp back up after the Cowboys get back to town, Jones said he wasn’t sure. However, he noted Dallas will have a game – and Parsons is under contract.

“I don’t know that necessarily talks will, but we’ve got a game coming,” Jones told a group of reporters Wednesday. “And he’s under contract.”
