Micah Parsons trade: Jerry Jones reportedly asked Jets for Quinnen Williams before Packers deal

The Micah Parsons saga in Dallas came to an end when the Cowboys and Jerry Jones shipped their star defensive player to the Packers. However, Green Bay wasn’t always set in stone — Parsons was almost a New York Jet.
According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, the Cowboys owner called the Jets and tried to make a deal involving Parsons and New York star defender Quinnen Williams. It didn’t come to fruition, but it wasn’t due to a lack of effort on Dallas’ part.
“Interesting #Jets nugget here: When he was shopping Micah Parsons, Jerry Jones called the Jets,” Cimini posted on X. “Sounds like he asked for Quinnen Williams and then some. It was a brief convo. Jones says the Jets told him they didn’t have the resources to trade for Parsons.”
It seems like Jones wanted a stud defender and picks for Parsons. He made a similar deal involving Kenny Clark with the Packers, and the rest is history. Green Bay was more equipped to land a player like Parsons as well, due to being a perennial playoff contender, so they were always a better dance partner.
In the meantime, Jones has continued to double down on the Parsons trade being in his team’s favor in the time since. During an interview with 105.3 The FAN, Jones revealed that he believed that the trade could be the move that leads to Dallas and quarterback Dak Prescott getting a long elusive Super Bowl ring.

“This was the best way to maximize our chance to get a Super Bowl for Dak,” Jones said. The quote was via The Athletic‘s Jon Machota.
No matter what Clark and the players Dallas acquires via Green Bay’s draft picks do, it’ll be hard for them to measure anywhere close to the production that Parsons gave the Cowboys franchise for the first four years of his NFL career. In his Cowboy debut against Philadelphia, Clark recorded two tackles.
Parsons is already wreaking havoc in Green Bay, as he’s recorded three tackles, one TFL and 1.5 sacks in two games with the Packers. Dallas, on the other hand opened the season with a 24-20 loss to the Eagles.
Perhaps Clark will help the Cowboys shut down the Giants offense on Sunday, as New York comes to town for Dallas’ home opener in Week 2. Jones will be hoping that’s the case, as it might take a bit of heat off him for shipping Parsons out of town.
