Micah Parsons trade request: NFL insider reveals what practice absence means for Cowboys star

Neither Micah Parsons nor Jerry Jones was present for Thursday’s Dallas Cowboys practice. Speculation began to run rampant on social media, wondering if a deal was close. However, anybody getting their hopes up has since been shut down.
According to WFAA’s Mike Leslie, there is nothing imminent between Parsons and the Cowboys. He got a short, but effective, message from one of his sources inside the Dallas front office.
“From a Cowboys front office source, regarding the apparently coincidental absence of Micah Parsons and Jerry Jones at today’s practice: ‘Nothing going on,'” Leslie said via X.
Earlier on Thursday, NFL Network’s Jane Slater put together a similar report. Slater added that Parsons is still in Onxard despite not being on the practice field. But most importantly, no talks about a contract are currently ongoing.
“Currently being told nothing is happening,” Slater said via X. “Micah Parsons is still at camp and does not appear any talk behind the scenes.”
As of now, we appear to be at a stalemate. Parsons requested a trade and the Cowboys have indicated they have no intention of moving him. At the same time, negotiations on a new deal do not seem to be active, or even in the near future.
Sept. 4 is likely the most important date of them all. Dallas heads up to Philadelphia to face off against the Eagles for the season opener. Parsons holding out of a regular season game would bring a whole new level to the situation. Quite a hefty check would be taken away from the star player.

Until then, everyone is waiting to see if any news pops up. And when both Parsons and Jones are away during media-viewing sessions, questions will be asked.
Jerry Jones reveals urgency level to get Micah Parsons contract done
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has not spoken with Micah Parsons since the star linebacker issued his trade request, Jones told reporters Tuesday. When asked when the situation becomes urgent, he said, “I stay urgent.”
Parsons has been with the Cowboys since going public with his trade request Friday, but still is not practicing. He is seeking a long-term deal that would likely make him the highest-paid non-quarterback, though no deal has come together. Meanwhile, the pass-rush market has shifted multiple times.
Jones said he has talked with Parsons’ representatives, but not the Pro Bowl linebacker himself since the request. In the meantime, the former Penn State star is still searching for a fresh contract.
