Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore will miss his second consecutive game on Saturday against Nebraska, as he is currently serving a suspension for his involvement in Michigan‘s 2023 sign-stealing scandal. During that season, Moore was Michigan‘s offensive coordinator under former head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Moore’s first missed game came in last Saturday’s 63-3 win over Central Michigan. The 60-point victory tied for the largest ever for the Wolverines at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. Freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood was surgical in the win, passing for 235 yards and one touchdown. He also led Michigan in rushing with 114 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries.

“He might actually be Batman,” Michigan‘s acting coach Biff Poggi said about Underwood postgame. “We need to do a DNA test on him, because he could be Batman.”

Poggi will once again serve as Michigan‘s acting coach against Nebraska. Prior to being hired as associate head coach this offseason, Poggi was the head coach at Charlotte from 2023-24. Moore will return as the head coach for Michigan‘s game against Wisconsin on Oct. 4.

Nebraska meanwhile has opened the season 3-0 for the second consecutive year under head coach Matt Rhule. After holding off Cincinnati 20-17 in its season opener in Arrowhead Stadium, the Huskers have rolled Akron 68-0 and Houston Christian 59-7.

It isn’t an exaggeration to say that this could be the biggest game for Nebraska in years, as it looks to rear its head as a legit College Football Playoff contender this season.

Nebraska‘s last win against Michigan came on Nov. 9, 2013 (17-13). The Huskers’ last home win over the Wolverines occurred on Oct. 27, 2012 (23-9).
