Part-time NASCAR driver Gray Gaulding announced Tuesday that his misdemeanor charge for domestic violence has been dismissed.

Gaulding, arrested back in April, had the charge dismissed by the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office during a July 25 court appearance.

“Gray Gaulding’s misdemeanor charge was dismissed by the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office on July 25, 2024. Although we expected this case to be dismissed once all the facts came to light, it is a relief for Gray after months of uncertainty,” Gaulding said in a statement. “We appreciate the public withholding judgement until we could resolve this issue. This was a just outcome to an unjust situation.”

Gaulding, 26, was booked into Mecklenburg County Jail on April 2nd following his arrest. He was ordered to not contact the victim in this incident and released into the custody of his father. NASCAR indefinitely suspended Gaulding for the arrest.

Gaulding had several court orders he had to follow during the process. He had to stay away from the home of the alleged victim, refrain from harming the alleged victim and have no contact with the individual in question. He also had to abide by any valid protective orders and was not allowed to possess any firearms.

Gray Gaulding’s NASCAR career on hold

Coming up through the stock car ranks, Gaulding showed a ton of promise. Gaulding was just 15 years old when he won his first NASCAR-sanctioned event, a K&N Pro Series West race at Phoenix. He was the youngest winner in K&N history.

Gaulding raced full-time in the Xfinity Series season back in 2019 with SS-Green Light Racing. He finished the season with a runner-up at Talladega, and a few more top-10 finishes. He was 13th overall that season.

In 2023, he ran 11 races for SS-Green Light Racing. He had two top-10 finishes, Talladega and Daytona-2. Gaulding made one start for Rick Ware Racing in the 2023 season, finishing P29 at Gateway. He has not competed in NASCAR this season.
