NASCAR Monday Mash-Up: Bubba Wallace snaps winless streak at Indianapolis

This weekend was massive for Bubba Wallace and his NASCAR career. He is now forever a Brickyard 400 champion. Crown Jewel races do not come easily, and Wallace’s emotion and exhaustion after the race on Sunday showed that perfectly.
It was a packed weekend of racing. Indianapolis was the host city, but NASCAR split its time between two race tracks. Short track action at IRP and then the big track at IMS.
ARCA, Truck Series, Xfinity Series, and Cup Series – all of the NASCAR talent was on display for this weekend. What a weekend it was with some big wins for multiple drivers.
ARCA, Truck Series go short track racing at IRP
ARCA and Truck Series action at Indianapolis Raceway Park is old-school NASCAR. Bumping and beating and good old-fashioned short-track racing. Brent Crews got the job done with relative ease in the ARCA race.
Meanwhile, Layne Riggs was lights out in the Truck Series. A short track racer by trade, Riggs flexed his muscles a bit with the big-time win.
Corey Heim clinches regular season with two races to go
Despite a P4 finish, Corey Heim had a big day as well. Heim clinched the regular season championship in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. There are still two races left before the playoffs.
This has been a dominant season from Heim. It is no surprise to see him clinch so early.
NASCAR officials inspect Turn 2 after complaints
During NASCAR Cup Series practice and qualifying, officials took a look at the track in Turn 2. I’m not sure if the track was so hot that it was starting to melt and deform. But drivers said it was coming up in a section of the track.
Kyle Larson complained on his radio. There were also multiple incidents in that turn with drivers spinning out and even wrecking.
Denny Hamlin slams the wall on hot qualifying run
Speaking of Turn 2 and wrecks, that’s exactly what Denny Hamlin did in qualifying. He came into Turn 2 HOT. It was an impressive run, and he almost made it to the alternate start-finish line to make his run.
More than two-tenths up on the tracker, Hamlin was moving quicker than any car before him. He was also the final driver to go out in the session. He ended up wrecking pretty hard and had to go to a backup for the race.
Chase Briscoe wins another Crown Jewel pole award
Somehow, some way, Chase Briscoe won another pole award. He has now won the Daytona 500, Coca-Cola 600, and Brickyard 400 pole in the same season. No one else has ever done that.
For Briscoe, the pole was once again a bad omen. Despite winning the first stage, Briscoe finished P18 in the end.
Austin Hill right rear hooks Aric Almirola in NASCAR Xfinity race
During the NASCAR Xfinity Series race, things got wild towards the end. Austin Hill and Aric Almirola were getting into it with each other. Then, Hill ended it.

Hill appeared to right-rear hook Almirola in retaliation. It wrecked the 19 car of Almirola and Hill was also damaged in the incident, along with Sheldon Creed. NASCAR held Hill for five laps and may end up handing out a suspension.
Connor Zilisch wins third straight NASCAR Xfinity Series race
Despite the shenanigans in this race, Connor Zilisch ended up winning, again. Three straight Xfinity Series wins. Is there anything he can’t do? Sonoma, Dover, and Indianapolis are completely different tracks. He won on all three the last three weeks.
Zilisch is a special talent. If you aren’t already paying attention, you need to start. He could be the biggest thing in NASCAR in the last 30 years.
100 wins for JR Motorsports, Dale Earnhardt Jr.
With the win from Connor Zilisch, JR Motorsports clinched its 100th Xfinity Series win as an organization. A massive achievement for any team in any series.
Dale Jr. was on hand to celebrate. It was a great and emotional post-race. A great race with a great ending.
Brickyard 400 almost ends under NASCAR rain delay
The NASCAR Brickyard 400 almost ended with six laps to go. Bubba Wallace had a three-second lead, and it was wiped out with the caution and then the red flag.
There was about a 20-minute delay as the track was dried off. It would then go into double overtime before we would have a winner.
Bubba Wallace snaps 100-race winless streak
A Crown Jewel winner! Bubba Wallace has broken his 100-race winless streak. A massive and historic win for Wallace in the Brickyard 400.
Wallace was emotional and worn out after the 400-mile race. He had to fight off Kyle Larson on two overtime restarts to claim his first win in almost three calendar years.
