NFL clarifies commercial plan for RedZone after Scott Hanson confirmation

The NFL is setting the record straight on its plan to air commercials on RedZone after Scott Hanson confirmed it will happen in some capacity. Per Richard Deitsch of The Athletic, the plan is to space a “limited number of ads throughout the seven-plus hours of the show.”
Deistsch also said there will be double-box ads, and viewers will hear the audio of the ads while the other box will show NFL RedZone. “This move has been contemplated and tested for over a year now, and is completely unrelated to the recent news regarding ESPN and the NFL,” the league said in a statement.
While appearing on The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday, Hanson revealed that commercials will air during the broadcast. “When you see me come on the air,” he said on the show. “We’re gonna hit the Octobox, we’ve got eight games in the early window, taking you around to all the different cities.
“And then when we get into it, ‘Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s been more than 250 days since the first full NFL Sunday, but we are back! And 7 hours of RedZone football starts now.’”

Scott Hanson reveals what fans can expect from NFL RedZone this season
During the 2024 season, NFL RedZone experimented with commercials, which led to viewers complaining to Hanson. “The business folks handle the business and I have no say over different elements that could or could not be in the show,” Hanson said.
While fans are not happy with the commercials on NFL RedZone, they are happy to see Scott Hanson back as the host. In May, Hanson agreed to a long-term contract extension as the host of the NFL Network’s highlights channel.
Before agreeing to the new deal, Hanson spoke to On3 about what fans can expect from NFL RedZone in 2025. “People love the show, we love doing the show. We are good at doing the show, but we want to be excellent,” he said. “So let’s find the little things we can tweak in our production to make it a better experience for the audience. While I can’t name specifics for you right now, we’ll find those things and get a little bit better to make sure that what people have called the greatest football show on TV stays that way.”
