NFL insider reveals names linked to Dallas Cowboys ahead of 2025 Draft

As usual, there is going to be a lot of intrigue in the Dallas Cowboys on draft night. Currently holding the No. 12 overall pick, the Cowboys could go a ton of different ways. Many are linking them to a wide receiver in mock drafts, specifically Arizona‘s Tetairoa McMillan.
But Dallas has needs at multiple positions, potentially opening the door for plenty of options. NFL Network’s Jane Slater gave three names she was hearing linked to the Cowboys around 48 hours away from the first round.
Slater added these might not even be players Dallas wants to take at No. 12. Trading down is still a possibility to get them at the right value, in their eyes.
“Where are #Cowboys leaning this year? Here are 3 names I’m hearing and to keep an eye on,” Slater said via X. “Ole Miss DT Walter Nolen, Tennessee Edge James (Pearce), Texas WR Matthew Golden. Tells you maybe they do want best player available and some of the moves in FA might allow that. Also have said for weeks here the trenches are a big point of emphasis… And don’t rule out being comfortable moving down bc of these guys.”
All three of Golden, Pearce, and Nolen spent the 2024 season in the SEC. Pearce was the only one who began his career at his school, though, committing to Tennessee coming out of high school. Nolen started at Texas A&M before moving to Ole Miss, while Golden transferred in-state to Texas from Houston.

Looking at the two defensive players, both guys would be brought in to help out the pass rush. Micah Parsons is already one of the NFL’s best but some help is certainly needed. Nolen could line up on the interior, next to Parsons. Or Pearce could play on the opposite side and terrorize offensive tackles.
Golden is another wide receiver the Cowboys have been heavily linked too. If mock drafts do not have McMillan going No. 12, Golden is usually the other player listed. A No. 2 for CeeDee Lamb is desperately needed and the Texas receiver certainly fits the bill.
As for the possibility of trading down, it takes two to tango. Dallas would have to not only find somebody willing to make a deal but also somebody who can offer what they want. All a part of the fun of working the phones during the NFL Draft.
