Arkansas and No. 22 Notre Dame are set to clash in a big-time Week 5 matchup next weekend, with the game set to take place at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, AR.

The Fighting Irish, which started the season 0-2 with losses to No. 10 Miami and No. 16 Texas A&M, are coming off their first win of the season (56-30 win over Purdue). Arkansas opened its season strong with dominant wins over Alabama A&M and Arkansas State, but has now dropped back-to-back games to No. 17 Ole Miss and Memphis.

Ahead of the matchup, the early point spread and more have been revealed. All odds are courtesy of BetMGM. Despite being the away team, No. 22 Notre Dame has opened as 6-point favorites over Arkansas, with the over/under set at 64.5 points.

The two historic programs have never met before. Under head coach Marcus Freeman, Notre Dame is 3-1 against teams hailing from the Southeastern Conference. The lone loss came in their Week 3 matchup against Texas A&M earlier this season.

How to watch No. 22 Notre Dame at Arkansas

Time: Saturday, 12:00 pm ET
Channel: ABC
Location: Razorback Stadium (Fayetteville, AR)

Arkansas seemed to be on its way to a 3-1 start, as it was driving down the field trailing Memphis 32-31 with just under two minutes remaining. On 2nd & 2 from the Tiger nine-yard line however, Razorback running back Mike Washington Jr. fumbled and handed the ball back over to Memphis with 1:18 remaining.

The Hogs forced a 3rd & 8 from the nine-yard line with 59 seconds remaining, but Memphis running back Arrington Maiden churned for an 11-yard gain to effectively end the game. The loss has turned the heat up on head coach Sam Pittman, who is now just 32-33 as the head coach at Arkansas.

In the loss, quarterback Taylen Green turned in yet another masterful performance. He completed 18/34 passes for 325 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Through four games this season, Green boasts 1,191 passing yards (360 rushing yards) and 12 passing touchdowns (two rushing touchdowns). With him leading the offense, the Hogs are averaging 45 points per game.

Arkansas/Notre Dame will kick off Week 5’s slate

Notre Dame broke through the win column thanks to a dominant performance by running back Jeremiyah Love, who is considered one of the best in the sport at the position. Against the Boilermakers, Love broke loose for 157 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. Fellow back Jadarian Price has been extremely effective as well, as he also rushed for 74 yards and three scores in the win.

Quarterback CJ Carr is finally getting his feet under him as ‘the man’ in South Bend, as he passed for 223 yards and two touchdowns against Purdue. Through three games this season, Carr has recorded 737 passing yards, five touchdowns and just two interceptions. He has been serviceable as Riley Leonard‘s replacement this season and seems to be getting more comfortable by the game.

Notre Dame‘s offense should be a handful for Arkansas‘ defense to handle, as it is averaging 426 yards per game. It’s defense (just like Arkansas‘) however has been less than stellar, meaning a lot of points could be scored between these two teams in Fayetteville.
