The Pittsburgh Panthers have been on fire since freshman quarterback Mason Heintschel took over the starting job against Boston College on Oct. 4. In that span, Pitt has outscored opponents 200-105 en route to a five-game winning streak. In five starts, Heintschel has passed for 1,511 yards and 12 touchdowns. He’s reached the 300-plus yard passing mark in four of those five games

Thanks to their recent success, the Panthers appeared at No. 24 in the first College Football Playoff Rankings of the season. Their opponent, Notre Dame, was placed at No. 10 in the CFP Rankings.

Notre Dame has now won seven consecutive games and has lowly Stanford and Syracuse remaining on the schedule following its game against Pittsburgh. If they can safely land the plane, the Irish look to be locks to return to the College Football Playoff with two losses on their resume.
