(BRYAN TERRY/THE OKLAHOMAN / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images) Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver Deion Burks (6) is brought down by Tennessee Volunteers defensive back Boo Carter (23) during a college football game between the University of Oklahoma Sooners (OU) and the Tennessee Volunteers at Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, Okla., Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024.

On Saturday, Tennessee will host Oklahoma inside Neyland Stadium. With the regular season nearing an end, the game could have significant College Football Playoff implications.

It’ll be only the fifth meeting ever between the two storied programs. Oklahoma has the edge, boasting a 3-2 all-time record against the Volunteers. However, Tennessee defeated Oklahoma 25-15 last season when they met for the first time as conference opponents.

According to BetMGM, Tennessee is a 3.5-point favorite against the Sooners. Additionally, the over/under for the SEC showdown is set at 56.5 points.

How to watch Oklahoma at Tennessee

Time: Saturday, Nov. 1 | 6:30 p.m. CT
Channel: ABC
Location: Neyland Stadium (Knoxville, Tennessee)

All eyes will be on the quarterbacks in the showdown. Both are transfer QBs who have produced standout seasons with their new teams.

Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer jumpstarted the Sooners’ season, guiding them to a 4-0 start. However, Sooners fans were left holding their breath when Mateer had to undergo surgery on his throwing hand following the team’s Week 4 win over Auburn.

Mateer fought back to play against Texas in the Red River Rivalry game only 17 days after his surgery. Alas, he didn’t look quite like himself and the Sooners suffered their first loss of the season. Since, then Mateer has been gradually returning to form and he’ll look to have a stellar showing against Tennessee.

As for the Volunteers, Joey Aguilar has been dynamite behind center this season. In only eight games, Aguilar has amassed over 2,000 passing yards and has more than twice as many touchdowns as interceptions.

The Volunteers will need Aguilar to step up this weekend if they want to down Oklahoma. It won’t be long until fans can see the two powerhouse programs clash.
