President Donald Trump to join FOX booth during second half of Commanders-Lions game

President Donald Trump will join the FOX booth during the third quarter of the Washington Commanders vs. Detroit Lions game. Kenny Albert announced the news midway through the first quarter and will interview Trump with his broadcast partner, Jonathan Vilma.
“It should be an exciting conversation we’re going to have with him,” Vilma said. “[Trump] was a high school football player back in his New York days. Looking forward to that conversation.”
Donald Trump was invited to attend the game by Commanders owner Josh Harris and is expected to particpate in the halftime activities honoring the military. The matchup against the Lions is the Commanders’ Salute to Service game.
“We are honored to welcome President Trump to the game as we celebrate those who have served and continue to serve our country,” Commanders Team President Mark Clouse said in a statement, per Fox 5 DC. “The entire Commanders organization is proud to participate in the NFL’s league-wide Salute to Service initiative, recognizing the dedication and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans, active-duty service members, and their families this Sunday.”

“That would be a beautiful name, as it was President Trump who made the rebuilding of the new stadium possible,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told ESPN on Friday night. The new stadium is being built on the old RFK Stadium site that was the Commanders’ home from 1961 to 1996.
On Sept. 17, the D.C. Council voted to approve the RFK Stadium Project, and the Commanders will invest $2.7 billion. The stadium will have 65,000 seats and will include housing developments, a sports complex, and retail shops.
The Commanders currently play at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland. It’s nine miles from the RFK stie that featured three Super Bowl champion teams.
