Report: Los Angeles Rams, Kyren Williams agree to three-year, $33 million extension

The Los Angeles Rams and All-Pro running back Kyren Williams have reportedly agreed to terms on a three-year, $33M extension, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This makes him the seventh highest-paid running back in the league.
Through three seasons, Williams boasts 2,582 career rushing yards and 26 touchdowns. He was named a Second Team All-Pro in 2023, along with being named to the Pro Bowl that season.
The Notre Dame alum is heading into the final year of his rookie contract, where he is slated to make $5,346,000. That’s more than double what he’s made through his first three NFL seasons ($2,748,185), with his yearly salary set to raise to $11 million per year in 2026.
Extension talks had been steady all offseason for Williams and the Rams, unlike the situation brewing between the Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons. Because of this, a training camp holdout was never even considered.
“For me, there was no decision. I play football, that’s what I do, that’s what I love,” Williams said via therams.com. “At the end of the day, I do this not for the money, not for the fame or popularity, but to take care of my family. I got three sisters, I got a mom, I got a dad, I got ten nieces and nephews that I’m working hard for so that they can one day be able to say that they can go to college.”

Williams has solidified himself as a top-ten running back in NFL
Williams was selected by the Los Angeles Rams with the No. 164 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame, where he was named a Second Team All-American in 2021 and Second Team All-ACC in 2020. In his three seasons in South Bend, the St. Louis native rushed for 2,153 yards and 27 touchdowns.
He spent his rookie season sharing time with Cam Akers in the Rams backfield, totaling just 139 yards on 35 attempts. Following Akers’ trade to the Minnesota Vikings that offseason however, Williams became Los Angeles’ starter and never looked back. He burst onto the scene in 2023 with 1,144 yards and 12 touchdowns (along with leading the league with 95.3 YPG) and topped that with 1,299 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2024.
Heading into the 2025 season, he has solidified himself as a top-ten running back in the league. Because of this, he’s certainly being paid like it.
The Los Angeles Rams open their 2025 campaign on Sept. 7 against the Houston Texas.
