According to Garrett Mitchell, best known as Cleetus McFarland on YouTube, the Biffle family was on their way to spend the afternoon with him and his family. Biffle, his wife Cristina, daughter Emma, and son Ryder were all on the plane. Dennis Dutton, his son Jack, and Craig Wadsworth also died in the crash. Biffle was 55.
The crash happened around 10:15 a.m. ET. At that time, a Cessna C550 crashed while landing at Statesville Regional Airport about an hour north of Charlotte. The wreckage immediately triggered fire and heavy smoke, leaving a pile of rubble on the ground. A handful of local viewers captured footage, stunned by the plane’s low trajectory as it attempted to salvage the situation. Visibility in the area was low at the time of the crash, due to rain in the area.Â
The NTSB on Friday provided an update on how the investigation will take place, what will be investigated, who will assist in the investigation, and more. Everything from the flight pattern to the plane and engines themselves. A full investigation will take 12 to 18 months before a final verdict is released.
A representative with the NTSB gave a breakdown of the wreck from what they know now. There were multiple impacts before the craft was engulfed in flames.
