After crashing out of this past Sunday’s race at Nashville Superspeedway on Lap 106, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. said he wanted to have a conversation with Carson Hocevar. The young Hocevar got into the back of Stenhouse’s No. 47 Chevrolet, sending him into the outside wall.

Hocevar said after his P2 finish at Nashville that he would welcome a chat with Stenhouse. To this point, Stenhouse has not received a call from Hocevar, he said on Tuesday’s “Motor Stardom Show.”

“I’ve been in this sport a long time and if you make a mistake like that, you generally pick up the phone as quick as you can, especially if you feel bad about it. If you don’t, you just roll on with it. No, I’ve not gotten a call from him,” Stenhouse said. “I’ve talked to his owner. Jeff Dickerson and I are super tight. I haven’t gotten a call from him, so to my point, he doesn’t really care about it, which is fine.”

Hocevar, 22, has a reputation around the garage for being aggressive — sometimes, in his competitors’ minds, overaggressive. Stenhouse clearly felt Hocevar crossed the line at Nashville. Not to mention, Stenhouse entered the race 13th in the points standings. He had been doing a phenomenal job at a single-car team.

Now, he’s 18th. Just like that, below the playoff cutline. Hocevar, however, defended his actions.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Carson Hocevar drama continues into Michigan week

“I kind of got a run and felt like I was kinda there,” Hocevar told the media on pit road. “That like, I felt like I was there enough, right, to get a call inside and have him kind of just run the middle. Honestly, probably could have cleared me. So, that’s just what I expected him to do, and he didn’t. And by the time I checked up, I almost spun too.

“So, yeah, if he wants to talk, I’ll be glad to talk. I feel like it’s just a product of this, unfortunately. Just everybody just kind of tries to get there. I think there were a bunch of people that got shipped that either didn’t wreck or did get wrecked.”

Stenhouse has given Hocevar the weekend to reach out. If Hocevar doesn’t, Stenhouse is going to find him this weekend at Michigan International Speedway.

“This is the ground he wants to stand on, that’s completely fine, but definitely something I won’t forget,” Stenhouse said. “If I don’t hear from him by the weekend, I’ll probably confront him, and we’ll figure it out.”
