Travis Hunter Sr., the father of Heisman winner and Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter, was arrested and jailed, per TMZ Sports. Hunter Sr. reportedly violated the conditions of his probation.

He was booked into jail Tuesday on one charge of probation violation, per TMZ. Hunter Sr. was allegedly too far from his monitoring device.

“Law enforcement alleged in court documents that Hunter Sr. was ‘too far away from his’ electric monitoring device for 11 minutes on June 28,'” the report read. “On July 4, they claim they tested the equipment and it was ‘functioning properly.’ They added that Hunter Sr. told them he was ‘moving too fast and forgot it.’ An arrest warrant for the 39-year-old was issued over the alleged violation on July 10. Records show Hunter Sr. is now due in court for a hearing on the matter on Thursday.”

Hunter Sr. was on probation over allegations he was in possession of a gun drugs during a traffic stop. That incident took place in 2023.

Travis Hunter Jr. was drafted No. 2 overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in April out of Colorado. His father was unable to attend the Heisman Trophy ceremony in December, but was granted court permission to travel to Green Bay to watch his son get selected in the NFL Draft.

As the gravity of the situation sunk in for Hunter Jr., he was able to enjoy a heartfelt video from his father during the draft. The NFL posted it on their social media account, with the No. 2 overall pick’s reaction included.

“Hey Trav. I wanted to congratulate you on the journey that you’ve been on, and I always knew you would be here, because I’ve never once seen you miss practice since you was four years old. I love that drive about you. Now, the big day done came, and I don’t know if I’m gonna cry or not, but you shocked me with this one, being the top five pick,” Hunter Sr. stated. “But I love you, and I’m happy I get to spend this time with you.”

Of course, the video meant the world to Hunter. He took some time afterwards to elaborate on how happy he was to have his father in Green Bay for the special occasion, shining a light on how bright their future will be together in Jacksonville.

“Oh, that was tough. It meant a lot to have my dad here. He wasn’t able to come to the Heisman. So, you know, it’s a blessing, you know, to be able to have him here, and see me, you know, walk the stage and, you know, do my thing, do my dance and have fun,” Hunter responded. “You know, it’s always been my dream. Like I said, since four, I’ve never missed a practice. I’m always at practice. Always on time. You know, I’m just excited to play football. So, seeing him you know make that video, it means a lot to me, but I’ve still got more work to do.

“From him, a little message that he’s just, you know, put across the board is you’re going to be coached hard. I understand what hard coaching is, and where it gets you. That’s a blessing. We’ve got more to do, got more to prove and I know you’re going to be at every game, so let’s keep going.”
