A projected lottery pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Tre Johnson was in attendance on the red carpet at Barclays Center. He also showed off his outfit for the night.

Johnson donned a green suit, which also featured shorts that went down to his knees. He topped it off with high socks and green shoes to complete the look before he took the stage and, eventually, waited to hear his name called by commissioner Adam Silver.

Johnson is coming off a standout season at Texas this past year, which helped boost his draft stock. While he waits to find out where he’ll play next year, he made an impression with his red carpet look.

Johnson was expected to be one of the first players off the board in Wednesday’s first round following an impressive freshman season at Texas. He led the Longhorns with 19.9 points per game while adding 3.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists while shooting nearly 40% from three-point territory.

Those numbers helped Johnson earn a green room invitation as a projected Top-10 pick. He ultimately went No. 6 overall to the Washington Wizards.

“Tre Johnson has been a polarizing prospect throughout the evaluation process, but his combination of size and scoring punch have brought him closer to the top of the board,” On3’s James Fletcher III wrote in his scouting report. “The ability to continue his upward trajectory as an offensive playmaker, as well as promise he could improve on defense, provide the type of star outcomes worthy of a high pick.”

However, Johnson’s suit choice was still a topic of conversation as he heard his name called. ESPN’s Jay Bilas pointed out the outfit as Johnson walked to the stage to shake the commissioner’s hand.

“Look at that suit. … Up top, he looks like a banker,” Bilas said on the ESPN broadcast. “Down low, he’s like a guitarist for AC/DC.”

Johnson was a touted recruit before arriving at Texas. He played high school basketball at Dallas (TX) Link Academy, where he was a Five Star Plus+ prospect – meaning he was one of the only players ranked by all four major recruiting media companies as a five star. He was the No. 5 overall player from the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
