Trevon Diggs injury update: Brian Schottenheimer announces alarming news sidelining Cowboys CB vs. Commanders

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer announced star cornerback Trevon Diggs has been ruled out of Sunday’s game vs. Washington after suffering a concussion. The injury was a result of an accident at his home Thursday night, according to The Athletic‘s Jon Machota.
This will be Diggs’ first missed game of the 2025 season despite some nagging issues, though he was momentarily benched as a starter in a 40-40 tie against the Green Bay Packers due to an unspecified off-the-field episode. Otherwise, Diggs has started the Cowboys’ other five games this season.
“He’s been banged up a little bit,” Schottenheimer said of Diggs after the Week 4 game vs. the Packers. “I’ve been a little tough on Trevon, just in terms of the consistency and things like that. But man, I thought he played really well tonight. I’m proud of him.”
Diggs has 18 total tackles, including 13 solo, in six games this season, though he has yet to record an interception. The former Alabama product led the NFL with 11 interceptions in 2021, the season in which he was named First Team All-Pro. He’s recorded just six interceptions in the four seasons following that monstrous campaign.
In 2023, Diggs played in just 11 of the Cowboys’ 17 regular season games because he dealt with multiple injuries, including an injured left knee, which he had surgery on during the offseason. He appears, however, to be healthy this season and has been a key member of a struggling Dallas defense under first-year defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus.

Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs reacts in disbelief to Micah Parsons first sack with Packers
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs still can’t believe Micah Parsons is with the Green Bay Packers. On Sunday, Diggs went to X/Twitter to repost a video showing Parsons getting his first sack with Green Bay.
“This can’t be real,” Trevon Diggs wrote in the post. “Wake me up from the dream.”
Parsons’ sack happened late in the fourth quarter when the Packers were up 27-6. Green Bay won the season opener 27-13, and Parsons finished the day with one tackle and one tackle for loss with a sack.
Parsons was limited to 45% of the defensive snaps because he was dealing with a back injury. After the game, the former Cowboys pass rusher spoke to Tracy Wolfson of CBS Sports about the fans at Lambeau Field cheering for him when he was introduced before kickoff.
“I can’t lie, it gave me chills,” Parsons said. “This environment, the first time, how they embraced me, the fans. This was one of one. This was really just a blessing in disguise.”
