Troy Aikman posts support as search for Texas flooding victims continues

Troy Aikman offered a hopeful message to the families of the children still missing among flash floods in central Texas. The Associated Press reported Saturday that 37 people have been confirmed dead as a result of waters overflowing from the Gaudalupe River.
Rescue crews are still searching for 27 children missing from Camp Mystic, an all-girls Christian summer camp located in Hunt, Texas. Aikman offered a heartfelt statement on the tragic situation via his X account.
“My heart is with the children still missing in the Texas Hill Country—and with those who have been found and heartbreakingly lost,” the ESPN analyst and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback wrote. “It’s impossible to put that kind of pain into words. I’m praying for the families still waiting, and for strength for those now grieving. Grateful for everyone doing the hard work to bring the rest of these kids home.”
Flood waters rushed through the area in the early morning of the Fourth of July. Search and rescue operations continued through that day and into the night, yet there are still several people unaccounted for as of this writing.
The community is still holding out its hope that the missing children will be found, with many rallying together to show their support. That includes Troy Aikman, a figure who has meant a lot to the state of Texas and who still resides in the Dallas area according to his ESPN bio.
“We’ve been rescuing people out of these camps by the hundreds all day,” Kerville city manager Dalton Rice said Saturday, according to CNN. “We’re not going to put a cap on this; we’ll just continue until we find everything else.”

Troy Aikman predicts Dallas Cowboys will win Super Bowl LX
Aikman of course won three Super Bowls with the Cowboys during the 1990s. The team has not won a title since then, but the six-time Pro Bowler believes that long drought will come to an end this season.
Aikman appeared on Tuesday’s “Good Morning America” alongside ESPN broadcast partner Joe Buck. Host Robin Roberts asked a simple question to both Aikman and Buck: “Who’s going to win the Super Bowl?” Buck went with the Buffalo Bills. Aikman immediately said the Cowboys.
“You know better than that. C’mon, Troy,” New York Giants legend and fellow GMA host Michael Strahan said.
Now, it’s entirely possible Aikman wanted to get a reaction out of former Giants defensive lineman Michael Strahan off camera. A Cowboys great, perhaps he felt there was no other answer he could give. Whatever the case, he said it — on national television. Now, it’s up to the Cowboys to fulfill the prophecy.
