Victor Wembanyama featured on San Antonio billboard as new Louis Vuitton ambassador

As San Antonio is probably not a global leader in sales for Louis Vuitton, the French luxury fashion brand is using arguably the most popular French import in city — and perhaps whole state of Texas: San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama.
Wembanyama was recently named a brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton. And the fashion house has plastered him — donning a LV varsity jacket — on a billboard in San Antonio.
It’s a view that will greet northbound drivers on Interstate-37 heading into downtown San Antonio.
It’s nestled right by the northbound exit to get on I-10, which takes one even closer to the Frost Bank Center, where the Spurs play home games.
Wembanyama, the No. 1 overall selection in the 2023 NBA Draft out of France, has largely been heralded as one of the next great NBA players. And standing 7-feet, 4-inches tall, with skills more reminiscent of a guard than a center, he’s been a revelation for fans, although the Spurs have continued to struggle.
Either way, one of the most popular young faces in the NBA is a golden opportunity for the iconic French brand to make inroads with newer, younger audiences. And Wembanyama manages to pull of the varsity jacket quite well in this first advertisement.

Wembanyama isn’t the only athlete repping Louis Vuitton of late
Deion Sanders said it to the world in a video of him addressing Colorado football players after he was hired as the head coach approximately a year ago: He was bringing his luggage, and his luggage was Louis — i.e. Louis Vuitton.
And Sanders’ reference to his plans to use the transfer portal and bring in his own players, including his two sons, Shedeur and Shilo, to play for the Buffaloes took on a new life this week. And what was just an analogy became a tad literal.
Both Shedeur and Shilo appeared on the runway at Paris Fashion Week to model Louis Vuitton’s 2024 line of men’s fall and winter clothes, which were designed in collaboration with legendary recording artist Pharrell Williams.
The motif for the entire line is evidently drawing heavily from the American west — the background for the show gives the game away, too. With their growing fame both on and off the field and playing in Colorado, it seems the Sanders boys were natural picks for the assignment.
