Some of the top receivers for the 2024 NFL draft are not planning on participating in drills at the NFL combine. However, former Washington star Rome Odunze is ready to compete.

Odunze is planning to run and test at the NFL combine, according to Ian Rapoport.

“WR Rome Odunze, the No. 3 overall player on @MoveTheSticks‘ Top 50 and in contention to be the Top WR, will run and test at the Combine in Indy, source said. So, a no on Marvin Harrison Jr. or Malik Nabers. But a yes on Odunze,” Rapoport posted.

As Rapoport mentioned, Rome Odunze is in the running to be the top receiver selected in the 2024 NFL draft. Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. is the favorite at this point, but Odunze is betting on himself and ready to show what he can do in front of NFL personnel in Indianapolis.

The Las Vegas native set a Washington record with 1,640 receiving yards last season. He led the nation in receiving yards and averaged nearly 18 yards per reception.

Rome Odunze was named a first-team All-American in 2023 after producing 10 100-yard games. He helped the Huskies reach the national championship game, where they eventually lost to Michigan.

Daniel Jeremiah high on receivers for 2024 NFL draft

Rome Odunze is a part of a receiver class for the 2024 NFL draft that has a ton of star power.

NFL draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah believes that the group is loaded with the trio of Odunze, Harrison and Nabers. He recently shared what he likes about each of the prospects.

“You have different flavors,” Jeremiah said in a conference call with the media recently. “With Marvin, you kind of get the big power forward who has some really good quickness for a big guy and tracks the ball extremely well. Odunze is going to be close to 220 pounds. I think you’re going to see him run in the low 4.4s (at the NFL combine). And he’s got unbelievable tracking skills to go up and get it.

“Nabers is just like a stick of dynamite,” Jeremiah said. “He’s super, super explosive. Just get the ball in his hands and let him go. I think there’s more to him in terms of a route runner. I think he’ll get more opportunities to show that at the next level. He is ultra explosive.”

While most agree that Harrison is the best of the bunch, it will be interesting to see if Odunze or Nabers can pass him before draft day.
