Rome Odunze

Rome Odunze ranked as the No. 34 receiver recruit in the country and the second-best prospect coming out of Nevada in the Class of 2020. During his senior season at Las Vegas Bishop Gorman, he was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for the state after racking up 54 catches for 1,222 yards and 15 touchdowns. After playing four games in 2020 and starting seven games in 2021, Odunze had a breakout 2022 season. Odunze led the team in receiving yards (1,145) and was second in receptions (75). He also led the Pac-12 in receiving yards and was second in receptions per game. The total yards ranked as the fifth-most in UW single-season history. The stats helped him rack up about most every major postseason honor possible, including first-team All-Pac-12 All-America recognition. He entered the 2023 season as a preseason All-American and a candidate for the Biletnikoff Award. Washington coach Kalen DeBoer says Odunze has a special skillset that is hard to find. “His height is already an advantage," DeBoer said. "So, if a defender plays behind, you just throw it over the top of the defender. And (if) they’re even or in front of him, just keep it high and away. Rome’s got those ball skills. He’s got the size, the strength to be able to get that separation. And it just continues to get easier. You see it every single day in practice."
