New England Patriots offensive tackle Will Campbell is on track to play Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. The rookie had been dealing with an ankle injury, but it appears barring another setback he’ll be ready to make his NFL debut.

The LSU product was selected fourth overall this offseason and is expected to play a massive role right away in pass protection. He’ll get a major test right off the bat as he must face Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby on the other side.

Campbell was a consensus All-American this past season at left tackle the Tigers in 2024. He also won the Jacobs Blocking Trophy for the SEC, given to each conference’s best blocker. Overall in his college career, he was a two-time first team All-SEC selection and was named second team All-SEC as a freshman in 2022.

The 6-foot-6 offensive lineman is also expected to play left tackle for the Patriots. He believes the SEC helped prepared him for the NFL and is ready to get going for his rookie season.

“Not only LSU, but the SEC is the closest thing you’re going to get to the NFL,” Will Campbell told On3 and a group of reporters during a press conference in May. “So being able to go there in a program that has produced the best of the best in the NFL for years, it does nothing but prepare me. So, the foundation was set way before me. I just had to come in and follow the blueprint, do what I’m supposed to do, and it just sets me up for success.”

We’ll see how things play out for Campbell in his first NFL season with a Patriots team looking to bounce back following a 4-13 record in 2024. Kickoff against the Raiders is set for 1 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium.

Raising Cane’s owner and founder is ‘impressed’ with Will Campbell

Before Will Campbell was selected by the Patriots, he worked a “shift” at a Raising Cane’s food truck near the home of the Green Bay Packers, Lambeau Field. Raising Cane’s owner and founder Todd Graves loved having Campbell work the food truck and interact with fans.

“Being from Baton Rouge, I have watched Will grow and have been impressed with his off-the-field character as well as his game on the field. We have partnered in charity events in Baton Rouge and I am proud of the man Will has become,” Graves said in a press release. “He and Tetairoa [McMillan] seemed to become fast friends from the FaceTime call I had with them during the activation and I wish them both luck in the Draft tomorrow night.”
