Xavier Worthy injury update: Flight causes issue, Chiefs update status for Monday Night Football

The Kansas City Chiefs added star receiver Xavier Worthy to the team’s injury report ahead of a Monday Night Football Showdown with the Jacksonville Jaguars. But there are varying reports about whether he’ll be available.
According to Cameron Wolfe of the NFL Network, Worthy’s ankle was “a little swollen getting off the plane” when the team arrived in town today. The team listed him as questionable “as a precaution for now” and will see how he feels on Monday.
Matt Verderame of Sports Illustrated added that Kansas City is “hopeful he’ll be able to go” on Monday night. It would be a significant addition.
Xavier Worthy has been excellent when healthy. He has played in only two games this season.
In a game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 5, Worthy was limited to just one target and one carry in the contest. He was much more active last week against the Baltimore Ravens.
In that contest, Xavier Worthy logged eight targets and hauled in five catches for 83 yards. He also took two carries for 38 yards, breaking off a 35-yard run at one point.

A former first-round NFL Draft pick by the Chiefs in 2024, Worthy caught 59 passes for 638 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie. He was among the more productive rookies in his draft class.
Worthy came to Kansas City out of Texas. He was a three-year star for the Longhorns.
While at Texas, Xavier Worthy racked up enough stats to finish fourth all-time in career receiving yards (2,755), sixth in receptions (197) and eighth in punt return yards (564). He was an all-around threat, one that the Chiefs were all too happy to add to the roster.
So, needless to say, all eyes will be on Worthy’s ankle prior to Monday night’s game. Early reports indicate he’s got a decent shot to play.
