If you check any NFL mock draft, a popular name is attached to the Kansas City Chiefs and the No. 32 overall pick. Many, including ESPN’s Jordan Reid, are predicting Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy to be the final pick of the first round. Kansas City needs help at receiver and Worthy can provide his blazing 4.21 speed.

Even though the draft is a few weeks away, Worthy is not paying attention to where he is selected in the mocks. Nor does he care what team winds up selecting him. Worthy seems most focused on making an impact for whoever needs him.

“Mock drafts, it’s just something on paper,” Worthy said during a Wednesday appearance on SportsCenter. “I feel like whatever teams need are, that’s where I’ll go. I can go earlier, I can go later. It’s wherever they want me.”

But how could you not want to play for Patrick Mahomes? He is undoubtedly the best quarterback in the NFL right now fresh off his third championship. The Chiefs did so without a true No. 1 wide receiver either, having to find different options throughout the season.

While Worthy is ready to contribute to whichever team selects him, he admits any wide receiver in the current class would want to catch passes from Mahomes. We have seen the freedom head coach Andy Reid gives the quarterback and incredible plays can occur.

“Any receiver in this draft would love to play with Patrick Mahomes,” Worthy said. “Just the dynamic he can bring to the game and the plays he can make with his feet, roaming around the pocket. I just feel like any receiver would love to play with Patrick Mahomes.”

Xavier Worthy did not have a favorite NFL team growing up

Worthy is originally from Fresno, CA, theoretically having plenty of NFL teams to watch growing up. Three different franchises call the state of California home, while the Las Vegas Raiders recently just moved out.

Even so, Worthy never had a favorite team as a kid. He always knew his NFL dream of being drafted would come true one day. The moment he hears his name called by Commissioner Roger Goodell, Worthy will officially have a favorite NFL team.

“I never had one,” Worthy said. “I’ve always said, whichever team drafts me, that’s going to be my favorite team. I always talked about that.”
