Devin Lloyd was an On3 Consensus three-star recruit out of Chula Vista (Calif.) Otay Ranch. He was a captain as a senior and played as a safety, receiver and punter. Lloyd moved to linebacker when he started at Utah. He redshirted the 2017 season and then was a special teamer in 2018. He earned a starting role as a sophomore and earned honorable mention All-Pac-12. He had a breakout campaign in the COVID-shortened 2020 season. He was first team all-conference and a Butkus Award finalist after having a team-high 48 tackles in five games. He is the son of Joe Lloyd and Ronyta Johnson. Joe Lloyd served 26 years in the military. He is a communications major at Utah.
