C.J. Hicks Scouting Reports

5 Reports
  1. C.J. Hicks evaluation at Under Armour All-America Game

    Charles Power1/2/22

Ohio State signee C.J. Hicks moved well throughout practice and has nice ball skills, which shouldn’t be a huge surprise given his experience on offense. We would’ve liked to see some more physicality and instincts during the game.

  2. C.J. Hicks Scouting Summary

    Primary
    Charles Power10/26/21

A well-rounded, versatile linebacker with very few holes as a prospect. Athletic, tough and instinctive, making plays in all three phases. Showing high-end play speed at linebacker as a senior with the ability to quickly diagnose, close and finish plays. Physical, explosive finisher with striking power. Providing to be effective as a blitzer and in pursuit. Showcases his ball skills and coordination as a receiver and running back on offense. Began his career as a defensive back prior to growing into an obvious linebacker prospect. Checks the boxes from a measurables standpoint at over 6-foot-2, 210 pounds with very good athleticism for the position.

  3. C.J. Hicks shows versatility as a senior

    Charles Power9/3/21

Hicks had a number of grabs as a receiver, including two touchdowns against Miamisburg (Ohio). He also threw a pass and lined up at running back. This is in addition to his defensive duties. We always like to see linebacker prospects play on offense. On that note, it's encouraging to see the five-star linebacker line up and influence the game at so many spots.

  4. C.J. Hicks rated as a 5-star in initial On300

    Charles Power8/1/21

Hicks is a versatile linebacker who makes plays on both sides of the ball. He initially began as a safety before growing into his 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame. Hicks is an explosive striker and tackler. We’ve also liked what we’ve seen from him in coverage.

  5. C.J. Hicks a top performer at The Opening Finals

    Charles Power7/5/21

Hicks was the top cover linebacker during the 1-on-1 portion of The Opening Finals training camp. The Ohio State pledge flashed strong transition skills and showed impressive makeup speed with the ball in the air. Hicks sports a well-built physique with length and range and is a natural in space. That transferred over to 7-on-7 play. Hicks showed fluidity in his drops with the ability to break and make plays on the ball. We've felt Hicks is one of the top linebackers in the 2022 cycle based on his overall body of work. You can add The Opening Finals as further evidence in favor of that lofty status.
