Cory Matthews

My name is Cory Matthews, and I’m a Class of 2027 linebacker from Jacksonville, Florida, currently playing at Mandarin High School. I’m a physical, downhill linebacker who takes pride in being a reliable tackler and defensive leader. I play with high effort, strong instincts, and a nonstop motor. I’m most effective in the box, attacking gaps, fitting the run, and finishing tackles with good leverage. I have good sideline-to-sideline speed and enjoy being the first one to the ball. I’m also continuing to develop my coverage skills and pass-rush ability to become a complete linebacker at the next level. I take coaching seriously and work hard in the weight room and on the field to improve every day. I hold myself accountable, bring energy to practice and games, and do whatever is needed to help my team win. I’m looking for a college program where I can compete, develop, and contribute on defense and special teams. I’m motivated to earn everything and prove myself at the next level.
