Dalton Brooks

Versatile athlete who is one of the more dominant small-town players from the state of Texas in recent years. Led Shiner High for back-to-back state titles while starring as a running back and safety. Rushed for over 2,500 yards and 36 touchdowns at nearly 12 yards per carry as a senior, while tallying 120 tackles and two interceptions on defense. Doubles as a strong track athlete, posting good numbers in several events including the 100 meters (11.15 seconds), the long jump (22-10.25 feet) and the triple jump (45-7 feet). Has a leaner athletic build that has room to fill out nicely at the next level. Smooth runner with easy closing speed to ball carriers. Willing to come downhill and strike as well as cover sideline to sideline in the back half. Flashes the long speed and change of direction necessary to play in the secondary. Will need to adjust to the speed of the game coming from a lower classification and make the full-time transition to safety. Did not participate in a neutral setting as a recruit, adding to an air of ambiguity relative to other top prospects. Has the physical tools and athletic profile to end up as one of the top safeties in the cycle.
