Dante Cephas was an On3 Consensus three-star recruit coming out of Pittsburg Penn Hills High School in the 2019 class. He signed with Kent State out of high school, turning down offers from Toledo, Bowling Green, Eastern Kentucky and other Group of 5 and FBS programs. In the 2021 season, Cephas developed into one of the top receivers in the country. He finished the season with 82 receptions for 1,240 yards and nine touchdowns. As a redshirt junior in 2022, he was ninth in the MAC with 744 receiving yards and three touchdown catches this season. He turned heads in the 2022 season for his NIL deal with Water Street Tavern. As part of the deal, he had his touchdown celebrations sponsored by the local bar and grill that’s known as “the official fan headquarters of the Golden Flashes.” After the 2022 season, Cephas entered the Transfer Portal.
