Desmond Ricks was originally on track to be a Class of 2024 recruit, but he reclassified in October 2022 to become part of the 2023 recruiting class. Originally from Chesapeake, Virginia, Ricks played his freshman season at Norfolk’s Norview High School before transferring to IMG Academy. At IMG, he emerged as one of the nation’s top defenders and was ranked as an On3 Consensus five-star recruit. He signed with Alabama after taking official visits also to LSU and Florida and was an early enrollee in Tuscaloosa. “They are known for producing,” Ricks said about his decision to sign with the Tide. “That is what Alabama does. If I go there, I know that is somewhere I will definitely be developed. I feel like they are deep into defensive backs. Coach (Nick) Saban is actually out there coaching defensive backs himself. That means a lot.”
