Rushing ability

Accurate, cerebral pocket passer with a developing arm.

Wolverton is listed at an unverified 6-foot-1, 190 pounds but looks more slender and leaner, though with a frame that could add another 15 to 20 pounds for more mass.

He needs to keep developing arm strength and add velocity to his passes. He has occasional flutter on his deeper routes but can fit the ball into tighter windows on the shorter routes. He shows strong accuracy, with a high touchdown-to-interception ratio and a completion percentage above 70 percent. He is at his best and most accurate on short and intermediate routes. He has smooth, consistent mechanics, rotating his hips cleanly to deliver timely throws, and he can drive off his back foot. His release has a slight hitch on the last throw, with the occasional push rather than throw, but he is still able to throw with touch and add some juice to get it to the receiver.

He has a basketball background, and it shows on his occasional runs, when he can show a little twitch and burst to churn out extra yards. He is proficient at throwing on the run and working through multi-read progressions quickly. He is willing to extend plays with his feet and keeps his eyes downfield. He is not a true dual threat and does not amass many yards on the ground, but he is willing to tuck the ball and run and will not hesitate to go up the middle to gain those yards.

He can go through his reads without locking on to a receiver and distribute the ball. He is able to fit the ball into tighter spaces. He makes high-percentage throws and will not force passes. He earns praise from his coaches for his high football IQ, and it is evident on tape that he knows when the pocket is collapsing or moving; he does not get frenetic but plays with calm in going through reads.

He currently projects as a Group of Six passer because of his accuracy and football acumen but could play himself into a Power Four prospect if he develops more arm strength and velocity.
