A rising sophomore defensive back who saw action on varsity as a freshman at cornerback and box safety. Now, a full-time underclassman starter. Undersized (5-foot-10, 155 pounds), he’ll need to put on weight long-term. But as he gets older and stronger, that shouldn’t be too much of a concern. As a young defender, he showed good instincts and positioning, mostly in zone coverage. He plays with high confidence. His spatial awareness was respectable, knowing when to sink vertically or drive on immediate threats underneath. The latter was more apparent in his most recent tape. But he’s capable of warding off…

Film Review Notes

Rising sophomore defensive back who saw action on varsity as a true freshman. Undersized but still a developing underclassman. Played zone cornerback and box safety roles. A nice job understanding leverage on downfield routes to ward off receivers away from targets. Provides lots of space pre-snap but has a fluid backpedal and reaction to targets. He plays with inside leverage. He is quick to cut off receivers towards the middle of the field and can be a little vulnerable to back shoulder throws. Solid drive on the ball defending underneath routes. Given his traits, it's easy to see his man-coverage usage increase over the next few years, especially if he continues to grow. He does a nice job flowing through traffic and finding the ball in the run game. Despite his stature, he isn’t afraid of contact and finishing plays. His tackling form needs to come along, particularly shooting his hips, but he does a good job squaring up before delivering a blow. Getting on the field and displaying promise in a talent-rich state like Florida at such a young age is wonderful for his long-term progression.
