Like K'Lavon Chaisson, Jayvon Dawson is a late-rising, high upside speed rusher with a developmental body type. Both are around the same size at the same stage, as well. Chaisson did not play high school football until his junior season and became a national recruit thereafter. Dawson emerged as a prospect a bit earlier, but saw a rise in his profile prior to his senior season.

Toolsy pass-rusher with a budding skill set that points to a high upside. Measured between6-foot-3 and 6-foot-4 and around 215 pounds prior to his senior season. Tests as a plus athlete in the combine setting with good straight line speed. Lines up at edge and linebacker for his high school. A twitchy athlete with explosive movement patterns that jump off the film. Flashes a strong first step. Knives through the line of scrimmage to make plays in the backfield. Shows good bend. Looks to have a high level of overall coordination as a pass rusher. Touts a dangerous jab step and quick hands at the point of attack. Pursuit speed appears to be excellent. Comfortable dropping into space and is a quality tackler, driving through ball carriers on contact. Finished his junior season with 68 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, and 8 sacks in 10 games. Will need to continue adding strength and mass to his frame. One of the younger top prospects in the cycle, turning 17 years old in August prior to his senior season. A late riser on the national scene, but looks to have a high ceiling as an EDGE prospect with NFL upside.
