Johnell Davis averaged 25 points during his senior season at Gary (Indiana) 21st Century High School. He signed with FAU out of high school and played some as a freshman during the 2020-2021 season. He then continued to emerge for the Owls in the 2021-2022 season. Davis was one of only four FAU players to play in all 34 games, and he averaged 6.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and played 19 minutes. He then had a breakthrough junior season for FAU, averaging 13.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and becoming a key reason why the Owls reached the Final Four. In the NCAA Tournament, he outings of 12, 29, 15 and 13 points. Davis was also named Conference USA’s 6th Player of the Year.
