2022 PG Bryce Lindsay decommits from South Carolina

Bryce Lindsay, a 6-foot-3 point guard out of Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy has decommitted from the University of South Carolina, he tells On3.

The news comes less than 48 hours after South Carolina parted ways with men’s head basketball coach, Frank Martin. With the Gamecocks, Martin finished with a 171-147 career record, making only a single NCAA Tournament appearance in just under a decade with the program.

Lindsay committed to South Carolina just over a month and a half ago, choosing the Gamecocks over Oklahoma State and Pittsburgh. He also received offers from Marquette, Xavier, Virginia Tech, Georgetown, Texas A&M, among others.

With Lindsay’s recruitment now back open, South Carolina still retains two prospects in the 2022 class: Top-150 prospect Zachary Davis and unranked forward Daniel Hankins-Sanford.

Statement from Lindsay

Lindsay sent the following statement to On3 regarding his decommitment:

Due to the recent developments with the coaching changes at the University of South Carolina, my family and I have decided it’s best for me to reopen my college recruitment. While South Carolina is still a college option, at this time I believe it’s best for me to explore all possible options before officially committing to any university.

I would like to personally thank Coach Frank Martin and his staff for the opportunity they presented to me. In addition, I’d like to thank the fans and administration for treating me with the utmost respect.
