2025 CB Major Preston sets commitment date

Hopewell, Va. native and Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy cornerback Major Preston has continued to work through his recruitment this spring.
Official visits to Florida, Ole Miss and Virginia Tech have been set. The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder has also now locked in his commitment date.
“I will be committing July 1,” Preston told On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons on Saturday.
He’ll first make his way to Gainesville for his OV with the Gators on June 7, then hit Oxford and the Rebels on June 14 before rounding things out with the home-state Hokies on June 21.
Preston could also set other officials in addition to those three. He was recently at Colorado and has kept communication with Oklahoma, as well. Relationships will ultimately play the biggest factor in Preston’s decision.
“The biggest thing is the relationship between me and the head coach,” Preston said. “We’ve got to be locked in, I’ve got to get a feel for things, how he coaches and just the people around the program, how they do things.”
Florida making a push for Preston
The Gators offered Preston at the end of last year. Since then, UF has pushed for the 6-foot-2, 170-pounder and has continued to catch his attention.
“Florida, that’s a big school to me being in the SEC and everything else that comes along with it,” Preston told earlier this spring. “They have great people on campus and one of my former teammates (Jerrae Hawkins) plays up there. It’s just a great program with great facilities. It’s built around great people.”
“I’ll say Florida is definitely one of those schools on my list that stands out and is definitely making a push toward my commitment,” he added.
Virginia Tech is currently trending in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, as the Hokies have long been recruiting Preston. He’s logged visits to Blacksburg since the summer of 2022. The likes of Texas, Michigan, Penn State and Syracuse have also extended offers to the IMG defensive back.
