La Grange Park (Ill.) Mount Carmel three-star EDGE Joey Quinn has decommitted from Vanderbilt, he announced on Tuesday evening.

He was committed to the Commodores since March 26.

“I would like to thank Vanderbilt University and the football staff for the opportunity. At this time, I have decided to decommit from Vanderbilt. My recruitment is now reopen,” Quinn wrote announcing his decision on X.

Quinn is the No. 868 overall prospect and No. 89 EDGE in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 25 player in Illinois.

The 6-foot-6, 250-pounder also holds offers from the likes of Louisville, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Purdue, Kansas State and Mizzou. His decision leaves Vandy with 18 commits in its 2026 class. The Commodores rank outside the top 40 of the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Vandy loses member of 2026 class

Head coach Clark Lea and his staff have taken strides on the recruiting trail as the program has climbed out of the doldrums of the SEC. While there are currently no industry four-star recruits in the class, the Commodores have won some important battles this year.

Owensboro (Ky.) three-star running back Evan Hampton sits at the top of the class after flipping from Louisville on July 14. He checks in as a Rivals four-star and is now the No. 26 RB in the nation.

Harrisburg (N.C.) Mooresville three-star EDGE Jace McCallum is the No. 21 player in the Tar Heel State and has been in the mix since June 11. Vandy landed seven pledges in June and another four in July.

Earlier this month, Vandy flipped Plano (Texas) three-star safety Bradley Brown from TCU. The Commodores now have five Texans in their 2026 class, with Brown near the top alongside Katy Paetow three-star defensive lineman Daryl Campbell.

Other top commits in the class include: Chattanooga (Tenn.) McCallie wide receiver Keeyshawn Tabuteau, Montgomery Village (Md.) Bullis safety Chris Tangelo, San Fransisco Archbishop Riordan quarterback Michael Mitchell Jr., Orangeburg (S.C.) Prep tight end Tilden Riley and Midland (Texas) interior offensive lineman Pulelei’ite Primus.
