The third domino has fallen in Oklahoma State’s 2026 class after the firing of head coach Mike Gundy.

Just a few hours after news broke that the 21-year head coach was being relieved of his duties, three-star offensive tackle Aiden Martin told Rivals he was reopening his recruitment. The Tulsa native and Berryhill High standout had been committed to the Cowboys since March.

At the time, he chose them over offers that included Kansas State, Texas Tech, Baylor, Arkansas, Purdue and a handful of other programs.

Martin was one of 15 commitments in the cycle for Gundy, whose team got off to a 1-2 start before he received his walking papers. He is also the sixth player overall in the class to decommit from the ‘Pokes, joining cornerbacks Jason Bradford and Victor Lincoln, as well as EDGE Jaylen Stewart, running back Kaydin Jones and receiver Jabarie Thornton.

Each of the first three prospects decommitted in June, with Bradford flipping to TCU, Lincoln flipping to Arkansas and Stewart flipping to Illinois. Martin was OSU’s sixth highest-rated commitment in the class and is the third to decommit since the firing of Gundy, following Jones and Thornton.

He checks in as the nation’s No. 744 overall prospect and No. 57 offensive tackle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services.

The 6-foot-5, 260-pounder also ranks as the No. 13 prospect in the Sooner State.

Oklahoma State fires Mike Gundy

Gundy was in the midst of his 21st season as the head coach at his alma mater, where he became the winningest coach in program history. However, it’s been a rough go the last two seasons as Oklahoma State won just three games in 2024 – none of which came in conference play.

The 2025 season saw another rough go, including a blowout loss to Oregon in Week 2. Now, the program is going in another direction and moving on from its all-time winningest coach. Oklahoma State will owe a $15 million buyout.

Gundy played quarterback at Oklahoma State from 1986-89 before getting into coaching with the Cowboys. He started out as wide receivers coach in 1990 and coached quarterbacks from 1991-93. He was then promoted to offensive coordinator in 1994 before returning to quarterbacks in 1995.

From there, Gundy had stints at Baylor and Maryland before returning to Stillwater in 2001. He started out as the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator under Les Miles, whom Gundy succeeded in 2005.
