Dexter (Mich.) offensive tackle Owen Winder has been released from his signing with Iowa State, he announced on Thursday.

The three-star prospect had been committed to the Cyclones since June, when he chose them over offers from programs such as Kentucky, Miami (Ohio) and Toledo. But with the change in coaching staff from Matt Campbell — who left for Penn State — to Jimmy Rogers, Winder is now looking for a new home after last week’s Early Signing Period.

“I’m still trying to figure everything out,” he told Rivals’ Adam Gorney over the weekend when news broke of Campbell’s decision to leave Ames.

On Thursday, he wrote this on Twitter announcing his decision to leave ISU’s class:

“First off, I wanna thank lowa State for giving me the opportunity to be a cyclone. After a lot of prayer and conversations with my family, I’ve decided to de-commit from lowa State University. This is the best decision for my future on and off the field. This wasn’t an easy decision at all. I’m thankful for everyone who has helped me every step of the way, I couldn’t have done it without you guys! With that being said my recruitment is 100% open!”

The 6-foot-6, 280-pounder is the No. 1490 overall prospect and No. 108 offensive tackle in the 2026 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services.

Rivals though, is much higher on him than 247Sports and ESPN. He currently ranks as the No. 68 OT nationally and No. 16 recruit in Michigan after the latest Rivals rankings update.
