2026 QB Cash Herrera decommits from Indiana

San Diego Bishop’s School three-star quarterback Cash Herrera has decommitted from Indiana, according to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.
He was pledged to the Hoosiers since June 23, but is now back on the board with National Signing Day less than two weeks away. Herrera is also a former Iowa commit.
Herrera is the No. 61 QB and No. 87 player in California in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He checks in as the No. 1,104 prospect overall.
The 6-foot-3, 207-pounder leaves the Hoosiers without a quarterback pledge in their 2026 class. Indiana currently has the No. 28 class in the nation, per the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
Entering his senior season, Herrera had thrown for more than 3,200 yards and 41 touchdowns while completing over 64 percent of his attempts. The Bishop’s School won six games this fall.

Hoosiers lose their 2026 QB commit
Herrera initially committed to Iowa last September, but backed off that pledge in the summer. He quickly locked in with Curt Cignetti and Co. a week later. Nearly five months after that, though, he’s now back on the board once again.
With Herrera no longer in the fold, IU now has 24 total commits in its 2026 class. A quartet of industry blue-chippers sit atop the class: Naperville (Ill.) North four-star defensive lineman Gabe Hill, Columbus (Ohio) Grandview Heights four-star athlete Henry Ohlinger, Sarasota (Fla.) Booker four-star linebacker Kevontay Hugan and IMG Academy (Fla.) four-star DL Cameron McHaney.
“I just like the program they’ve built so far, it’s highly competitive, highly aggressive,” Hill previously told Rivals about IU. “They’re a team with a lot of ambition, a lot of things to prove, so it’s exciting, I love Coach Cignetti. I love the way he presents himself, the way he does things at the program. His level of attention to detail, it’s just mind-blowing.”
The class also ranks No. 7 in the Big Ten, ahead of Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan State, Rutgers, Penn State and others. The full pledge list can be seen here.
