Lexington (Texas) three-star quarterback Kase Evans has been released from his signing with Iowa State.

Evans had been committed to the Cyclones since October 12, and signed with head coach Matt Campbell and Co. last week. But after Campbell left for Penn State and ISU hired Washington State coach Jimmy Rogers, Evans is looking for a new home.

“After considerable reflection, prayer, and talks with my family I have made the decision to request my release from lowa State University,” he wrote on Twitter announcing his decision. “I’d like to thank everyone at ISU for the opportunity and I wish the new staff continued success. I now look forward to the journey ahead.”

Earlier this fall, he was also pledged to Oklahoma State before Mike Gundy’s firing, but quickly found a new home in Ames. When news broke of Campbell leaving ISU, he was frustrated by the possibility of going through another recruiting hurdle.

“I’m numb to it now,” he told Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman. “Happened at OSU and now at ISU. Different circumstances, I know, but it’s the same end result.

… I was going to ISU because of coach Campbell and his culture, as well as their offense that I liked. Coach Waters, Hoodjer and Mouser were great to me also. Everything happens for a reason. I’ll just have to step back and see what happens. Everything will be OK one way or another.”

Evans is the No. 1188 overall prospect and No. 64 quarterback in the 2026 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services.

Rivals, however, is a bit higher on him than the industry and tabs him as the nation’s No. 50 passer.

As a junior last fall, he threw for 3,113 yards and 37 touchdowns, while completing 210-for-343 passing attempts (.612). He followed that up as a senior by throwing for nearly 3,000 more yards and 29 touchdowns, while adding another 559 yards and six scores on the ground.
