2026 safety Adam Auston decommits from Arkansas

Lawton (Okla.) MacArthur three-star safety Adam Auston has decommitted from Arkansas, he told Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett on Tuesday.

He had previously been committed to the Razorbacks since August 2024, when he chose them over offers from Oklahoma State, SMU and TCU, among others. But with the dismissal of head coach Sam Pittman and defensive coordinator Travis Williams, he is now looking for a new home.

“Just shocked,” he said on Sunday in reaction to the news of Pittman’s firing. “Coach Pittman was from Oklahoma like me, so we got along and built a great relationship.”

Auston is the seventh decommitment for the Razorbacks in the past three weeks and the fourth since Pittman’s firing on Sunday. Four-star linebacker JJ Bush, one of the class’s crown jewels, decommitted on Monday, as did three-star ‘back Caleb Gordon. Wide receiver Keymian Henderson backed off his pledge in the hours after the news broke.

In total, 10 different prospects have decommitted from Arkansas this cycle, one of the highest numbers in the entire country. The remaining class, which still features 21 commitments, ranks No. 52 nationally and No. 15 in the SEC, according to the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Arkansas will likely be hit hard by the transfer portal as well, leading to a wholesale roster turnover for the next coach.

Auston, meanwhile, will surely have suitors after drawing more than a dozen offers before committing to the Razorbacks. The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder is the No. 700 overall prospect in the 2026 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services.

He also ranks as the nation’s No. 63 safety and No. 11 recruit in Oklahoma.
