2026 women's basketball recruit Somto Okafor commits to UCLA

Spanish 2026 guard Somto Okafor has committed to UCLA, she announced. The 5-9 guard from Barcelona, Spain chose the Bruins over South Carolina. She was originally committed to Arizona, but reopened her recruitment following a coaching change. 

Okafor, whose full name is Somtochukwu-Blessed Okafor Ofoegbu, showed out at the 2024 U16 EuroBasket tournament. She averaged 11.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.1 steals to earn a spot on the All-Star Five. 

This summer at the U19 World Cup in Czechia, she averaged 12.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.3 steals, en route to being named to the All-Star Five again.
