2026 WR Jonah Winston, brother of Jameis, sets commitment date
Hoover (Ala.) three-star wide receiver Jonah Winston has quietly racked up some big-time offers. Now, as his senior season gets underway this week, he’s ready to announce his college commitment.
In an interview with Hall-Tech Sports on Tuesday, Winston revealed that he’s set to commit at the end of this month on Aug. 30. He has not released a top schools list or announced any finalists just yet.
Winston is the younger brother of former Florida State superstar, Heisman Trophy winner and longtime NFL quarterback Jameis Winston.
The 5-foot-10, 153-pounder has received offers from the likes of FSU, Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Colorado. He landed his legacy offer from the Seminoles back in April.
“The one thing that makes FSU more unique than the other schools is I basically grew up at FSU,” Winston previously told Warchant. “That’s where the game really started for me.”

At the beginning of the year, Winston told Rivals that FSU, Auburn, UCF and Ole Miss were his four “favorite” programs at the time. It remains to be seen who will have hats on the table when his decision rolls around in less than two weeks.
Winston is now the No. 696 overall prospect and No. 105 WR in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 24 player in Alabama.
Jonah led Hoover in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns last season with 38 catches for 542 yards and three scores. He also carried the ball 21 times for 152 yards and five touchdowns. The Buccaneers won 10 games and finished as the No. 7 team in the state, per the Rivals Composite Rankings. Hoover opens its 2025 season this weekend in a massive tilt at home against nationally-ranked IMG Academy (Fla.).
