St. Frances Academy (Md.) will take on Corner Canyon (Utah) in the first-ever Overtime Nationals championship on Wednesday night. The game will be a nationally-televised contest on ESPN2

The game, which is set to have Joe Tessitore and Dan Orlovsky on the call, will take place at Under Armour Stadium in Baltimore. It will also feature a live commitment.

St. Frances Academy three-star defensive lineman Jayden Travers will make his college decision at halftime of Wednesday’s game, Rivals has learned. The 6-foot-4 junior will choose between Miami, Michigan and Nebraska.

Travers is the No. 553 overall prospect and No. 56 DL in the 2027 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 10 junior in Maryland.

The SFA roster is loaded with talent. The Panthers, who rank as the No. 3 team in the nation, per the Rivals Composite Rankings, have over 20 ranked prospects on their roster. They’ll take on Corner Canyon, the No. 21 team in the nation, which has five ranked prospects and three straight Utah state titles under its belt.

Nebraska had Travers in Lincoln for a visit back in October. None of the Huskers, Miami nor Michigan landed commitments from or signed an SFA prospect in the 2026 cycle.

Travers is among the crop of talent that will take the reins as seniors next season. He’ll play the final game of his junior season on Wednesday and will also take his name off the board, choosing one of three high-profile college programs.

More on the inaugural Overtime Nationals game

Rivals’ Andy Villamarzo broke down the potentially-groundbreaking matchup when it was announced on Nov. 21:

“When getting an early look at the matchup on paper, the national championship matchup pits one of the nation’s highest scoring offenses in Corner Canyon (48.2 points per game) against St. Frances Academy’s airtight defense, which has only yielded 67 points through nine games.

For talent on the field, there won’t be a lack of that whatsoever as the Chargers feature several Division I prospects, including Texas A&M commitment Helaman Casuga and the star of the UHSAA 6A title game, tailback Weston Briggs, who led the way with 171 yards rushing and four touchdowns. On the Panthers’ side, they feature two five-star defenders in Maryland commit Zion Elee and Alabama pledge Jireh Edwards.

This national high school football championship game on a grand scale is what many believed be the one that would’ve pitted St. Frances Academy versus IMG Academy before they called off the matchup with the Panthers.

Coincidentally enough, both teams are the last two to have defeated IMG Academy on the field, with both losses coming during the 2024 season.”
